Nanotechnology (or "nanotech") is the invention of atomic, molecular and molecular scales. The first, advanced definition of nanotechnology refers to the specific aim of atomic and molecule precision technology in macroscale products, also now called molecular molecular technology. A more comprehensive interpretation of nanotechnology was later developed by the National Nanotechnology Initiative, which describes nanotechnology as a matter-of-fact scaling with at least one dimension ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. This definition reflects the fact that quantum mechanic effects are important for this quantum-realm, so the definition has been moved from a specific technical objective to a research phase that includes all types of research and technology that deal with special phenomena of matter under a given size limit. It is therefore common to see the plural form "nanotechnologies" and "nanoscale technologies" to look at the wide range of research and applications that have their common feature in size.
