Japan Earthquake

Earthquake or Great Tōhoku Earthquake, a major natural disaster in northeastern Japan on March 11, 2011. The event started with a powerful earthquake off the northeast coast of Honshu, Japan's largest island, which caused massive damage to the world and triggered a massive series of tsunami waves. down many coastal areas of the country, especially in the Tōhoku region (northwest of Honshu). The tsunami also posed a serious nuclear threat to the power station along the coast.
