Gold nanoparticles are a topic of considerable research round the world due to their potential applications during a big variety of areas including electronics, nanotechnology and biomedicine. they're reported to possess weak antibacterial activity compared to other metal nanoparticles discussed above. However, very small sized gold NPs (about 2 nm) have shown considerable antimicrobial activity. The antibacterial activity of the gold nanoparticles are often attributed to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that intensifies the oxidative stress of microbial cells. Photo thermal therapy (PTT) are often applied for improving the antibacterial potential of Au NPs. When irradiated with laser, gold nanoparticles can generate heat thanks to the excitation of electrons. It enables them to be used as anticancer or antibacterial agents. for instance , Au NPs has enhanced bactericidal effect on S. aureus when exposed to laser energy [16]. Gold NPs are found to move against Gram positive C. pseudotuberculosis. they need also been studied to develop a possible drug and gene delivery system in cancer therapy. However, truth potential of gold nanoparticles is yet to be determined through vigorous research activity. There are various techniques available to synthesize gold nanoparticles of which chemical reduction method where chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) is reduced during a solution of sodium citrate is notable.
