It has been observed in many instances; the patients may experience symptoms and seek treatment only after the cancer has advanced to stages where there are little chances of reversing its effects. In such cases, the patients are declared terminal. The process of taking care of such terminally ill patients is represented as oncology palliative care. In such cases, the palliative care providers’ aim is to better the quality of life of the patient till the day he/she lives. This may sometimes involve discontinuing chemotherapy to limit the critical side effects caused by them. Apart from taking care of the treatment regimen, the palliative care providers also provide emotional and mental support to the patients and sometimes even their family members.
