New Approaches in the diagnosis and Treatment of Mycoses

Direct microscopy, Histopathologic methods are the conventional methods whereas Molecular diagnostics and serologic techniques are the newer non-culture based techniques. In molecular diagnosis nucleic acid probes are been used for the identification of dimorphic fungi. PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test is a promising diagnostic test for mycoses. Treatment for mycoses is by the use of antifungal agents or by surgical excision.
