Modes of Toxic Action

Physiological and behavioral signs that distinguish toxicants or pollutants according to their type of toxic response are known as modes of toxic action. They have application in ecotoxicology and aquatic toxicology. Non-specific acting modes of toxic action result in narcosis while specific acting modes of toxic action produce a specific action at a specific target site. It helps to protect the environment from adverse effects.
