Microbiology is the branch of biology that deals with the function, structure and uses of microorganisms. Microbiology includes several sub disciplines such as bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology. Virology is the study of viruses and virus-like organisms, including their taxonomy, pathogenic properties, cultivation and genetics. Virology focusses on the following features of virues i.e. structure, classification, pathogenicity, interaction with the host cell and their use in therapeutics and research.
