C elegans Life Cycle

The life cycle of C. elegans consists of the embryonic stage, four larval stages (L1-L4) and adulthood. Each larval stage end is marked with a molt, during which a new cuticle is synthesized and the old one is shed. During this process, pharyngeal pumping ceases and the animal enters a brief lethargus.
