Berberine is a plant extract used to treat diabetes without side effects. It is an oral hypoglycemic agent with anti-dyslipidemia and anti-obesity activities. Its metabolic activity of regulating blood glucose and lipids has been widely studied and evidenced in patients. berberine doesnot cause any liver damage unlike other drugs. Berbarine mechanism involves stimulating the activity of the genes responsible for manufacturing and activating insulin receptors, which are critical for controlling blood glucose. Berberine also has an effect on blood sugar regulation through activation of incretins, gastrointestinal hormones that affect the amount of insulin released by the body after eating.
