Wayne graduated as B. App. Sci. ( Med. Lab. Science ) from R.M.I.T in 1982 and undertook the Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) majoring in Microbiology in 1990. He developed his business credentials by completing an M.B.A. through LaTrobe University. In 2015 Wayne received a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists, Australasia, Faculty of Science. Wayne has over 30 years of clinical microbiology experience. He has worked in large private pathology laboratories including Dorevitch Pathology and Gribbles Pathology and in the public sector at the Royal Melbourne Hospital predominantly in Microbiology Departments where he has specialised in infectious disease serology.
