ABSTRACT

The present study deals with the documentation of ethno medicinal plants used for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis

Objective: The prime objective of the study is to document the ethno medicinal plants used by tribal people for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis of Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, India.

Methods: The ethno medicinal studies carried out during 2014-19. The information was collected through interviews, discussions and observations. Many tribal pockets were visited to interact local people and gathered informati onabout medicinal plants.

Results: The study recorded a total of 49 species belonging to 47 genera and 31 species have been recorded which are being potentially exploited by the tribal and non-tribal groups in curing psoriatic arthritis.

Conclusion: To initiate the measures for taking up Pharmacognostic studies, for isolating and purifying the useful active ingredients for the purpose of phytopharmaceutical preparations for curing psoriasis.
