Abstract

Wetland medicinal plants in floodplains of Subansiri and Ranga river of Lakhimpur district, Assam, India

North Lakhimpur is situated in the North Eastern part of India with luxuriant floral and cultural diversity. The local people of Lakhimpur District have been used almost sixty five wetland and semi-aquatic medicinal plants for different diseases from long years ago. We have been studied the vernacular names, scientific names and uses of the different medicinal plants located in floodplains of the Subansiri and Ranga river of Lakhimpur District. The work aims at the preservation and preparation of this knowledge of the wetland plants possessing medicinal properties for further fruitful investigation on modern scientific lines.
