Pre – discharge education for family caregivers is a significant part of each healthcare provider’s career, which can help to prevent complications and hospital readmissions. This study aimed to investigate the family caregivers’ knowledge about maxillofacial trauma care and the effectiveness of the pre-discharge educational Program on patient – caregivers in the Department of Maxillofacial –Reconstruction and Plastic Surgery. A cross-sectional study design with convenience sampling was used. Between May 15th 2019 and Aug 31st 2019, 270 subjects were recruited. Of these subjects, 68.1% were female; ages ranged from 31 to 50 years were 61.9%; 53.3% of subjects had less than the high school of education; the majority of the subjects (63%) were living in rural areas; 43.3% of them were patient’s parents; 27.8% had spousal relationships. 96.7% of subjects stated that they had been instructed on taking care of patients with maxillofacial trauma.
