In a search for new leads towards potent anticancer agent 6-[2-(4-amino-5-sulfanyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)ethyl]- 2,3-dimethoxy-6,12-dihydro-5H-[1,3]dioxolo[4',5':5,6]indeno[1,2-c]isoquino- line-5,12-dione 14 were synthesized in good yield. Chemical structures of the compounds are elucidated from their IR, 1H NMR, mass and elemental analysis. All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in-vitro anticancer activity by using SRB assay method against the growth of five human cancer cell lines. Some compounds showed interesting cytotoxic activities when compared with the Doxorubicin as a reference drug.
