Synthesis and antimycobacterial activity of Cu (II) complexes containing
thiosemicarbazones ligand
Copper (II) thiosemicarbazone complexes derived from simple thiosemicarbazone. The compounds were
characterised using various spectroscopic and analytical techniques, including NMR spectroscopy, mass
spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The copper (II) complexes were screened for in vitro
antitubercular activity. Incorporation of the copper (II) centre into thiosemicarbazone scaffolds enhanced their
efficacy against the Mycobacterium tuberculosis while this trend was not observed for the selected simple
thiosemicarbazones against the Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulent strain NCSMTB
