Objective: Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among women across the world, especially in Iran, which can annually cause death a lot of women. According to high prevalence of this cancer and its fatality rate, it seems essential to investigate different epidemiologic aspects.
Methods and materials: This study is a retrospective research on investigating 400 records of patients with breast cancer referred to Breast Disease Clinic of Ghaem Hospital in Rasht 2015 to the first half of the year 2016. The collected data is being analyzed using SPSS-20 and using independent T-student test and Pearson Correlation Coefficient.
Results: All 400 records are investigated and the mean age range of diagnosis of cancer in studied patients was equal to 51.87±12.066 and the highest age of cancer diagnosis was 89 and the lowest age was 24 years old. The highest frequency percent was observed in age group of 46-50 to 19%. Analysis of pathology results showed that the most common type of malignancy is ductal incursion type. The mean size of tumor is obtained to 2.87±1.640cm and the lowest size of tumor is recorded as 0.2cm and the largest size is 9.80cm.
Conclusion: Obtained results from this study showed that the most cases of diagnosis of breast cancer in Iranian women is in the 4th decade of life and this time is when the tumor has relatively entered to high risk stages. Hence, the screenings must be done before this decade and with high accuracy to diagnose the tumors with size less than 2cm..
