Intentional replantation (IR) is a predictable treatment alternative for patients to retain their teeth. However, it is not widely practiced, with the recent introduction of advanced bio materials and better understanding of periodontal healing there has been an increase in interest in (IR) especially from the endodontic community. The first line of treatment after primary endodontic treatment fails and retreatment is unpredictable is usually apical surgery. Sometimes apical surgery is also not practical due to anatomic, logistic or patient related factors.IR can be a viable alternative in those circumstances and will yield consistent results in the hands of trained general dentists and specialists. IR should be offered to patients as a viable alternative treatment to extraction and implant placement because it has comparable survival rates to dental implants and is highly cost-effective.
