Abstarct: In this pandemic era, COVID-19 has emerged as important viral pathogens in paediatric population. But other viral infections are also rampant in parts of eastern India which is often underdiagnosed and inappropriately treated. Along with COVID-19; some parts of West Bengal (a state in Eastern India) are experiencing other viral infections like influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, human parainfluenza virus, metapneumovirus, dengue virus etc. in paediatric age group. Sudden rise of paediatric fever cases has caused panic amongst people of India in anticipation of 3rd wave of coronavirus infection in children. Clinical presentations of such fevers are almost similar; which makes them difficult to differentiate. Further management also somewhat different in these infections. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of these infections often beneficial in preventing mortality. Sudden outbreaks of such fever cases in children led to prompt action by administration and samples of these cases found to be positive for influenza B, respiratory syncytial virus and some cases for dengue virus. So, in this pandemic period all other possible infections are to be kept in mind while evaluating any cases of fever in paediatric age group. So, prompt diagnosis and treatment of such infection may be helpful in preventing mortality from these diseases.
