Impact of EU Fit for 55 Packages on European Biofuel Market

Over Summer 2021, the European Commission published thirteen legislative proposals to put the EU transport and energy sector on track towards reducing economy-wide emissions 55% by then end of the decade, dubbed the Fit for 55 Package. In this presentation, I discuss the clauses relevant to biofuels and what it means for supply and demand the coming decade. Moreover, I scrutinize national transposition, including feedstock bans and caps, advanced biofuel submandates, the role of electric vehicles and multipliers in the aviation and marine segment.
