Abstract

HYBRID FIXATION OF FRACTURE RADIUS AND ULNA USING RADIUS PLATING AND ULNA NAILING

Diaphyseal both bone fracture of forearm in adults are common. Imperfect treatment of fractures leads to a loss of ROM , muscle imbalance and poor hand function. Closed reduction and cast immobilization showing poor functional outcome because of malunion, nonunion, or synostosis. Now days most accepted treatment modality is both bone plate osteosynthesis. Plating has good union ratios with stable fixation. However, plating requires extensive surgical exposure with periosteal stripping during procedure.IM nail fixation for these fractures an alternative and effective treatment with shorter operating times, therefore less complications and good cosmetic results. K-wires , rush nails show high nonunion rates due to a lack of rotational control. Street used square nail for rotational stability
