Abstract

Free radical scavenging properties of the ethanol extract of Cynodon dactylon

The in-vitro antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of has been investigated by DPPH free radical and nitric oxide scavenging methods. The ethanolic extract exhibited IC50 values of 72.43±4.46 and 68.52±3.82 respectively in DPPH and nitric acid radical inhibition assay. Free radical scavenging activity might be due to the presence of flavonoids.
