Abstract

Effect of vermicompost on the growth and nutrient status in groundnut (Arachishypogaea. L)

Vermicompost contain plant nutrients including N, P, K, Ca ,Mn ,Zn and Cu, the uptake of which has a positive effect on plant nutrition, photosynthesis ,the chlorophyll content of the leaves and improves the nutrient content of the different plant component (Root and Shoot). The highest chlorophyll, carotenoid , sugar, Amino acid and protein content were observed in the plant grown in 200g of vermicompost applied pots .The soil properties such as PH, Ec, available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, iron ,zinc, copper and manganese were found to vary in the soils treated with vermicompost application. An increase in micro and macro nutrient content was observed with the 200g of vermicompost, treatment.
